About the role#
This is a year-round internship position within the System Protection Engineering team. You will support distribution and transmission relay operations, contributing to short circuit modeling, power system databases, and system disturbance investigations. The role begins on May 31, 2027, and requires a commitment of at least one calendar year.
What you'll do#
- Perform lightning analysis to support transmission operation investigations.
- Update short circuit models, including transmission line and transformer modeling.
- Assist with the replacement of relays.
- Complete special assignments with your mentor, such as running SQL queries.
- Calculate feeder settings and conduct lab testing for relay settings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET accredited college or university.
- Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Standing of Sophomore or higher as of Fall 2027.
- Completion of a basic circuits course.
- Ability to work full-time during the summer and part-time during the school year.
- Ability to commute to the office in Denver, Colorado.
