    About the role#

    The Merit Awards and Career Center Assistant provides front-line support for the Office of Merit Awards and the AU Career Center. You will interact with students, faculty, staff mentors, and representatives from national scholarship foundations. This position is ideal for students interested in international education, study abroad, and career services.

    What you'll do#

    • Schedule appointments for the Office of Merit Awards and the AU Career Center.
    • Answer inquiries from the AU community in-person, over the phone, and via email.
    • Promote scholarship information sessions and workshops, including through the OMA Instagram account.
    • Prepare materials and handouts for office use.
    • Track applicants and maintain candidate dossiers.
    • Assist the Associate Director with the Early Identification Program for sophomores.

    What you'll need#

    • You must be a current American University student.
    • Experience in a customer-service position.
    • Strong editing and writing skills.
    • Comfort using social media, specifically Instagram.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft programs.
    • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
    • Preference is given to students who can commit to more than one semester and those with knowledge of nationally competitive scholarships.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Main Campus, Washington, DC.
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Schedule: Part-time, 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm ET.
    • Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour.
    • Term: Rolling.
