About the role#
The Nursing Clinical Internship (NCI) at Avera Creighton Hospital offers students the opportunity to practice nursing care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse mentor. Interns are responsible for individual actions and patient care outcomes while working within a multidisciplinary team. This is a paid, part-time position with rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
What you'll do#
- Provide patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions and communicating care plans to the healthcare team.
- Offer physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and their families.
- Obtain medical histories and examine patients to develop nursing care plans and diagnoses.
- Instruct patients and families on conditions, medications, and self-care skills.
- Measure health outcomes against standards and modify care plans based on changing patient needs.
- Adhere to infection-control policies and medication administration procedures.
- Maintain patient care equipment and manage medical supplies.
- Document patient conditions and care services in department records.
- Enhance nursing capabilities through training as outlined by leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a CCNE or NLN accredited Registered Nursing program.
- Completion of all but the final one or two semesters of your nursing program.
- Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds.
Location & details#
- Location: Creighton, Nebraska.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends (7am-7pm or 7pm-7am), with every third weekend and holiday required.
