About the role#
Baxter & Woodman is hiring a Construction Engineering Intern for our Mokena, Illinois office. This position begins in May 2027 for the summer term. You will support our transportation, water, and wastewater departments while working directly with firm clients. This role involves active participation in field observation and construction oversight for projects including roadway reconstruction, structural improvements, and water infrastructure.
What you'll do#
- Perform construction services including quantity computation, construction layout, survey, and inspection.
- Assist engineers with field work, evaluations, studies, and design.
- Work on projects related to storm sewers, potable water, sanitary sewers, and treatment plant rehabilitation.
What you'll need#
- Ongoing pursuit of a 4-year degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in construction engineering.
- Availability to start in May 2027.
- Ability to work outdoors for 40 or more hours per week.
- Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
- Ability to identify and solve problems promptly.
- Capacity to work well in a team environment.
- Reliable personal transportation to travel throughout the Baxter & Woodman service area.
