About the role#
Baxter & Woodman is hiring a Transportation Engineering Intern to join our team for the Summer 2027 term. This position offers hands-on experience in the planning and design of various transportation facilities. You will work alongside our transportation design team to support active projects and gain practical industry knowledge.
What you'll do#
- Perform plan reviews and prepare project plans.
- Use CAD software for design tasks.
- Conduct quantity computations and traffic analysis.
- Assist with data collection and field surveys.
- Participate in construction inspections.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a 4-year degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Transportation Engineering.
- You are available to start in May 2027.
- You possess strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
- You can work effectively in a team environment.
- You have your own transportation and the ability to travel throughout our service area.

- Locations: Bannockburn, Chicago O'Hare, Crystal Lake, Naperville, or Mokena, Illinois.
- Work Modality: On-site and hybrid options available.
- Schedule: Full-time.
- Compensation: $23.00 per hour.
