About the role#
This position offers practical experience in a live theater setting for students interested in technical theatre, engineering, construction, or event production. This role is reserved for Federal Work Study (FWS) students only.
What you'll do#
- Set up lighting, sound, and stage equipment for productions.
- Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on technical gear.
- Work with QLab technology for screen and LED backdrops.
- Assist with stage design and the construction of sets and props.
- Organize and clean theatre materials and workspace.
- Support technical operations during live performances.
- Collaborate with the technical director to ensure smooth production flow.
What you'll need#
- Knowledge of or a willingness to learn carpentry and the use of hand tools like drills, hammers, and saws.
- Experience with painting sets or crafting props.
- Basic knowledge of backstage work.
- Familiarity with or a willingness to learn how to hang and adjust lights.
- Ability to work in a team, manage time effectively, and maintain reliability.
- Physical stamina to handle the demands of set construction and event support.

- Location: Waco, Texas.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Work Modality: On-site at the Waco Civic Theatre.
- Compensation: $15 per hour.
- Eligibility: This position is open to students in Architecture, Art, Media Studies, Graphic Design, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Communications, and Marketing.
