About the role#
This is a 12-week paid internship for Summer 2027 based in San Francisco. You will join the food and wine team at the San Francisco Chronicle to cover the local dining and drinking scene. You will work within a cohort of summer interns while receiving direct training and mentoring from editors and colleagues.
What you'll do#
- Report and write news articles for the Chronicle and SFChronicle.com.
- Cover restaurant and bar openings, closings, and other food- and drink-related news.
- Engage readers through social media, visuals, graphics, and alternative story forms.
- Participate in team brainstorming sessions.
- Assist critics with on-the-ground reporting work.
What you'll need#
- You are a college student, including community college students or a recent graduate of an associate or bachelor program.
- You are eager to find and chase good stories.
- You possess strong writing skills.
- You maintain a strict dedication to accuracy, fairness, and inclusiveness.
- You have high standards, curiosity, and empathy.
- You are able to collaborate and are comfortable providing and taking feedback.
