About the role#
The John DiStaso Political Fellowship is a paid position based at WMUR-TV in Manchester, New Hampshire. This program offers students the opportunity to learn from an experienced political team while pursuing a career in political journalism. The fellowship is available for the Fall 2027 and Winter 2027 terms.
What you'll do#
You will work directly with the political team on several key projects. This includes assisting with daily political coverage and election-related reporting. You will also support the production of the weekly political show, CloseUP.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor degree program for Political Science, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Prior experience in journalism through college media or previous internships.
- A clear goal to work in the field of journalism.
- Strong writing, research, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- A record of academic success.
- Two recommendations from faculty or internship supervisors.
- The ability to meet strict deadlines.
- A willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
