About the role#
The Field Engineering Intern supports IT installations, services, and changes across company offices and yards. This role involves office support, operational growth, yard moves, remodels, and general IT maintenance. Some travel may be required.
What you'll do#
- Remotely assist with installs, troubleshooting, and repairs of network, desktop, and voice equipment.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data circuits, escalating issues to vendors when necessary.
- Track and resolve support tickets in the Helpdesk system.
- Document and manage IT equipment inventory.
- Install and support IT devices, including PCs, servers, VoIP, mobility devices, and infrastructure.
- Assist with IT projects, including research, configuration, and deployment.
- Coordinate IT moves, adds, and changes across various sites.
- Design infrastructure wiring on floor plans and survey sites to report discrepancies.
- Work with vendors to obtain quotes and manage IT purchases.
- Conduct connectivity tests for equipment and resolve IT issues during new site openings.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- Basic knowledge of telecommunications, LAN cabling, and data circuits.
- Experience with physical network and PC equipment installations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and exercise good judgment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift 20 lbs repeatedly.
- Understanding of cabling infrastructure and standards.
