About the role#
We are looking for a Controls Engineering Intern to join our team in Canton, New York. This role provides hands-on experience in the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of automated control systems. You will work alongside senior engineers on industrial projects and develop your technical skills throughout the summer.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design, development, and testing of control systems including PLC programming, HMI development, and SCADA systems.
- Support the troubleshooting and debugging of control system hardware and software.
- Draft and review technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and system schematics.
- Help with the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of control systems on-site.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to support project success.
- Conduct research on new technologies and industry best practices.
- Maintain project records and prepare reports or presentations.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.
- A basic understanding of control systems, PLCs, and industrial automation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with Ladder Logic, Structured Text, or Function Block Diagram is a plus, as is experience with CAD software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Location & details#
- Location: Canton, NY.
- Term: Summer 2026 (May 27 to July 31, 2026).
- Schedule: Full-time.
- Education requirement: Graduation date of December 2026 or later.
- Compensation: $1,635.00 to $3,185.00 biweekly, depending on location, position, and year in school.
