About the role#
As a Quality Control Intern, you will gain hands-on experience with HMA production and construction management. You will work within a vertically integrated team to learn how customer specifications are met and how quality standards are maintained across various business lines.
What you'll do#
- Learn HMA production processes, paving procedures, and density control methods.
- Assist with testing materials for weight, gravity, temperature, thickness, and gradation.
- Calibrate testing equipment and conduct smoothness determinations.
- Input test data into computer systems and communicate results to paving personnel.
- Help adjust processes to ensure they meet project specifications.
- Work with QC Technicians to understand aggregate processing and quality conformance.
- Perform all tasks in a safe and productive manner while reporting results ethically.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university, pursuing an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Intermediate math skills, specifically algebra, geometry, and shop math.
- Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, reports, and manuals in English.
- Capacity to solve practical problems in environments with limited standardization.
- Ability to lift or move more than 100 pounds.
- Willingness to travel, work away from home, and work nights or weekends when required.
