About the role#
As an International Pharmacy Intern, you will complete the required US internship hours necessary to build upon your existing pharmacist education. This role is designed for foreign pharmacy graduates to develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to pass required licensure exams. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to deliver patient care, manage pharmacy operations, and support staff development in a retail environment.
What you'll do#
- Complete required US internship hours within an 18-month timeframe.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, selecting products, and resolving third-party rejections.
- Support the pharmacy manager by motivating and developing pharmacy support staff.
- Greet customers in a professional manner and provide high-quality service.
- Assist the supervising pharmacist with dispensing duties and patient counseling.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory levels by following established management policies.
- Deliver additional health care services as permitted by state regulations.
- Ensure a safe and effective work environment that meets all regulatory requirements.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Active pharmacy intern license in the state where the district is located.
- Successful completion of FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong communication, active listening, and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally.
- Commitment to obtaining pharmacist licensure within 120 days of completing internship hours.
