About the role#
The Open World team leads workshops, afterschool programs, and special events for K-12 students. As a student instructor, you will work alongside a co-teacher to create a safe, supportive, and fun learning environment. You will help students explore subjects such as computer science, game design, art, animation, robotics, and music. This role is open to currently matriculated students at DigiPen Institute of Technology.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with a co-teacher to lead afterschool sessions, monthly events, and special activities.
- Engage students through interactive, hands-on learning.
- Maintain a safe, productive, and caring environment for all participants.
- Communicate professionally with parents, students, and your team members.
- Answer questions from students and parents.
- Assist with the set-up, breakdown, and preparation of activities.
- Adapt to changing student needs to support all learners.
What you'll need#
- Completed high school.
- Knowledge in one or more of the following: computer science, art or animation, game design, robotics, or music and sound design.
- Ability to engage and connect with children and teens.
- Strong communication and organization skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with co-teachers and team members.
Location & details#
- Location: DigiPen Institute of Technology in Redmond, Washington.
- Employment dates: August 31, 2026, to June 4, 2027.
- Hours: Afternoon and evening schedules, up to 20 hours per week.
- Compensation: Starting rate of $20 per hour, with up to $30 per hour for returning staff with prior experience.
- Requirements: Must reside in Washington state. You cannot work during times when you have a scheduled class. Employment is contingent on passing a criminal background check and a 5-panel drug screen.
