About the role#
This Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op position is a 6-month assignment based in Hillsboro, Oregon. You will join the team for the Winter 2027 term, working full-time from January through June. You will partner with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams to support the CMP Polishing Pads business. The role involves working across various manufacturing operations, including thermoset compression molding, machining, lamination, and automation.
What you'll do#
- Support manufacturing engineers in maintaining safe, efficient, and high-quality production processes.
- Collect, organize, and analyze manufacturing data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Assist with root cause investigations for quality issues, equipment performance, and process deviations.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, and productivity.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, such as work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Support Statistical Process Control (SPC) activities and process capability assessments.
- Assist in planning, executing, and documenting engineering trials and Design of Experiments (DOE).
- Participate in equipment qualifications, process validations, and new product introductions.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to improve performance.
- Present project findings and recommendations to engineering and site leadership.
- Complete a meaningful engineering project with measurable business impact.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Materials Science, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering.
- Standing as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in good academic standing.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with university requirements for co-op participation.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, SPC, Minitab, JMP, Power BI, or CAD software is a plus.
- Prior internship, co-op, laboratory, or research experience is preferred.

- Compensation: Paid position, $20-$30 per hour based on skills.
