About the role#
The Actuarial Co-op works with a team of analysts and actuaries to support reinsurance administration and risk management for Fidelity Investments Life Insurance Company. You will support a business that manages over $40 billion in insurance liabilities. This role is designed to develop your analytical, business, and communication skills as you work toward a career as an actuary.
What you'll do#
- Collect and prepare net settlement amounts for self-administered reinsurance agreements.
- Determine amounts payable on life insurance death claims.
- Analyze data to support the company risk monitoring and management functions.
- Report findings and results to internal audiences.
- Manage project work to timelines, providing updates and resolving issues.
- Improve documentation and audit trails.
What you'll need#
- A major in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a quantitative subject.
- Familiarity with database and spreadsheet programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective listening, communication, and presentation abilities.
- A commitment to learning and interest in the actuarial profession.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
- A competitive drive and commitment to self-improvement.
- Coursework in finance, business, accounting, or economics is a plus.
- Prior co-op or internship experience is helpful.
- Progress on Society of Actuaries exams is a significant advantage.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Boston, Massachusetts.
- The hourly pay range is $20 to $32 per hour, depending on experience and scope.
- This position follows a rolling term.
