About the role#
As a Design Researcher Co-op within the Fidelity Center for Applied Technology (FCAT), you will help the design team envision future experiences. You will use speculative design, user research, and design thinking to explore how emerging technologies impact financial services. This role involves working from initial research and ideation through to sketching and rapid prototyping.
What you'll do#
- Support the design team across the full project lifecycle, from early research to final prototypes.
- Create multimodal outputs and develop compelling story arcs for design concepts.
- Conduct market research with both customers and non-customers to inform product requirements.
- Analyze consumer trends and customer feedback to identify new product ideas and themes.
- Perform competitive analysis to support project strategies.
- Collaborate with teams across the firm to learn about Fidelity and its operations.
- Use quantitative research, such as surveys and screeners, to generate qualitative insights.
- Test early-stage prototypes using remote research methods.
- Identify latent customer needs and hidden market segments.
What you'll need#
- Interest in the future of digital experiences and emerging technologies like VR, Generative AI, and Agentic AI.
- Ability to think critically about design challenges and communicate ideas effectively.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite and Figma is preferred.
- Participation in extracurricular clubs such as Scout or Sandbox is a plus.
- One previous co-op experience is preferred.
