About the role#
Harbor Group Management Company is seeking an intern for a 10-week program at The Edmund in Reston, Virginia. This full-time, paid position offers exposure to the daily operations of property management. You will work under the guidance of the property manager, shadow various roles including maintenance and leasing staff, and contribute to a capstone project.
What you'll do#
- Assist with leasing tasks such as responding to inquiries, qualifying prospects, showing apartments, and preparing move-in paperwork.
- Maintain accurate traffic records and enter resident data into Yardi.
- Follow up with prospective residents via phone calls and cards.
- Conduct move-in inspections and review property rules with new residents.
- Learn to manage renewals, track lease expirations, and prepare lease documents.
- Process application fees, security deposits, and rent payments.
- Walk the property to monitor curb appeal and overall appearance.
- Assist with planning resident functions and responding to service requests.
- Learn to comply with Fair Housing and Tax Compliance regulations.
- Communicate professionally with all customers and residents.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 4-year accredited program for Property Management, Real Estate, Marketing, or a similar field.
- Status as a rising Junior or Senior.
- At least 1 year of customer service work experience.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
