    About the role#

    HealthCorps is seeking a mentor to lead the Teens Make Health Happen program in middle and high schools across Oklahoma City. You will serve as a near-peer mentor, helping students make healthy choices and fostering leadership skills within their communities. This is a paid internship that offers college credit and ongoing professional development.

    What you'll do#

    • Collaborate with teen wellness leaders and site partners to deliver programming at 1-4 school sites.
    • Plan and implement the Teens Make Health Happen program, spending 3-4 hours each week at your assigned school sites.
    • Conduct needs assessments to identify health challenges and track program progress.
    • Host monthly Café O Yea demonstrations and support regional events.
    • Connect students and staff with relevant local health resources.
    • Contribute to social media platforms by sharing program highlights and student impact stories.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in public health, psychology, nutrition, biology, marketing, public policy, education, or social work.
    • Good academic standing at your university.
    • Availability to commit at least 8 hours per week for the full academic year.
    • A strong desire for personal and professional growth as a community leader.
    • Comfort with learning and presenting health-related topics to a teen audience.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
    • Modality: Hybrid.
    • Commitment: 8+ hours per week, rolling term.
    • Requirements: Ability to travel up to 45 miles to assigned sites and lift up to 15 pounds.
