    About the role#

    WGAL-TV offers paid internships within the News department for the Fall 2026 term. Interns gain hands-on experience by shadowing professionals across various newsroom functions. This program typically requires 16 hours per week, scheduled based on mutual availability and academic requirements.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist the assignment desk with gathering news and information from sources, government agencies, and the public.
    • Research and write content for WGAL digital platforms, including the website and app.
    • Practice writing and formatting scripts for broadcast news.
    • Write scripts for daily sportscasts and research team or player statistics.
    • Analyze weather charts and models to assist meteorologists with forecasts and graphics.
    • Support field work and news gathering operations with photographers and reporters.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a Journalism, Communications, or related program.
    • Specific interest in News Producing, Reporting, Photography, Sports, or Meteorology.
    • For Weather department applicants, enrollment in a meteorology or closely related curriculum is required.
    • Strong interest in local and national sports for sports-focused roles.
    • Ability to provide a cover letter detailing your department preference, availability, and main objectives.
