    About the role#

    As a Module Engineering PhD Intern in Wet Etch, you will join Intel Foundry to support the development, optimization, and sustainment of semiconductor manufacturing processes. You will work alongside experienced engineers to solve technical challenges and gain hands-on exposure to fabrication technologies. Your contributions will help improve process capability, yield, quality, and operational efficiency within a specific module area.

    What you'll do#

    • Support the development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes.
    • Troubleshoot, maintain, and qualify equipment to ensure process stability and reliability.
    • Analyze performance data to identify improvement opportunities and drive corrective actions.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve process control methodologies.
    • Investigate and resolve process or equipment issues affecting manufacturing operations.
    • Apply scientific and engineering principles to solve complex technical problems.
    • Participate in hands-on projects aligned with business objectives.
    • Present technical findings, recommendations, and project outcomes to engineering stakeholders.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
    • Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing, materials processing, or device fabrication through research, coursework, or industry experience.
    • Experience applying scientific and engineering methodologies to solve technical problems.
    • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
    • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
    • At least 3 months of experience in research, laboratory, or industry settings.
    • Experience with data analysis, statistical methods, or automation tools such as Python, MATLAB, SQL, JMP, or R.
    • Experience using AI and Large Language Models like Microsoft Copilot or Google Gemini in research or productivity workflows.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
