    About the role#

    The Operations Intern provides essential support to the regional office by managing the front desk and assisting staff with daily administrative tasks. This role serves as the first point of contact for visitors and callers, ensuring that clients receive appropriate information and support. This is an unpaid, full-time, on-site position with a rolling start date.

    What you'll do#

    • Greet visitors and connect them with the appropriate staff members.
    • Assess visitor documentation to determine eligibility for office services.
    • Schedule appointments for various programs based on client eligibility.
    • Manage the main telephone line by answering and directing incoming calls.
    • Provide clerical and administrative support to office staff.
    • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all internal privacy policies.
    • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity when interacting with refugee clients.

    What you'll need#

    • Strong computer skills with proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to work effectively as a team member in a cross-cultural environment.
    • Detail-oriented approach with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
    • Willingness to learn about the history, policies, and global work of the organization.
    • Previous administrative experience is preferred.
    • Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in Arabic, Spanish, Dari, Pashto, French, Ukrainian, Russian, or Kiswahili is a plus.
    • Pursuing or holding a degree in Communications, Human Resources, Psychology, International Relations, Sociology, or Public Health.

    • This role is based on-site in New York, New York, or Elizabeth, New Jersey.
    • This is an unpaid internship.
    • This position does not offer visa sponsorship.
