About the role#
This Federal Work-Study position supports the daily operations of the library. You will assist patrons, help professional staff manage the space, and ensure the library remains a welcoming environment for students and faculty. This role is open to students from various fields of study, including Communications, Human Resources, Psychology, Sociology, History, and Public Health.
What you'll do#
- Open and close the library facility.
- Greet visitors and answer directional questions about the library and campus.
- Check library materials in and out.
- Assist with library programming, such as setting up for events.
- Shelve books and maintain organized collections.
- Count library patrons on an hourly basis.
- Troubleshoot basic computer and printer issues for users.
- Triage requests to determine when to refer patrons to a librarian or other campus departments.
What you'll need#
- Ability to communicate clearly with patrons, staff, and faculty.
- Physical ability to lift 10-20 lbs, which is required for moving books and operating the security door.
- Familiarity with the MS Office suite.
- A completed FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need.
- Current status of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
