About the role#
Irving Tissue is looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Co-op student for the Winter 2027 term. This position is based in Macon, Georgia. You will work approximately 40 hours per week in an on-site capacity.
What you'll do#
- Lead projects focused on equipment reliability and uptime.
- Manage waste reduction initiatives and conduct root cause failure analysis.
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including quality, safety, and paper making staff.
- Coordinate with external vendors providing specialized services.
- Engage directly with the operators who manage our manufacturing assets.
- Align teams to create new processes, procedures, and policies.
- Run trials for new products and efficiency improvements.
- Gain exposure to first-quartile assets within the tissue manufacturing business.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 4-year Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering degree program.
- Completion of at least 2 years of your engineering degree.
- Fluency in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- High level of professionalism and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work in a highly organized manner with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
