About the role#
This summer internship provides hands-on experience within the Research and Development team at Johnsonville. You will work under the direction of scientists to support Packaging Engineering and Sensory groups. The role involves contributing to real projects, collaborating across functional departments, and applying your academic knowledge to product development.
What you'll do#
- Execute product development activities for new platforms, line extensions, and improvements.
- Develop project visions, objectives, scopes, and timelines.
- Assist with pilot plant and full-scale plant trials.
- Evaluate the sensory characteristics of new product designs.
- Maintain accurate work records, including notebooks and status reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and work independently on assigned tasks.
- Share ideas, questions, and results with team members.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Meat Science, Food Science, or Chemistry (junior or senior status preferred).
- A minimum 3.5 GPA is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work off shifts when needed and travel to other facilities.
- A drive for excellence and a willingness to learn.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Lab and prior work experience are preferred.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
