About the role#
This 12-month co-op position offers students hands-on experience applying machine learning and data science techniques to real-world business challenges. You will join a team focused on developing predictive models and emerging AI solutions within an enterprise environment. The program includes mentorship and access to the GRO early talent program.
What you'll do#
- Explore, prepare, and validate data to ensure quality and consistency for modeling.
- Build and evaluate machine learning models using rigorous experiment design and documentation.
- Support feature engineering, model development, and performance optimization.
- Prototype generative AI solutions, such as prompting and retrieval-based methods, with a focus on safety.
- Develop reproducible code and workflows using Python and SQL.
- Communicate findings through reports, visualizations, and presentations for various audiences.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language like Python, R, or Java.
- Experience with SQL or other data querying languages.
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts and frameworks such as scikit-learn or PyTorch.
- Understanding of version control systems like Git and collaborative coding practices.
- Interest in emerging AI technologies and applying technical solutions to business problems.
Location & details#
- Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 5, 2027, to December 16, 2027).
- Modality: Hybrid. Employees are expected in the office Tuesday through Thursday, with remote work options on Mondays and Fridays.
- Compensation: This is a paid position with an expected annual salary range of $54,600 CAD to $72,150 CAD, pro-rated based on the length of the work term.
