    About the role#

    Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories is looking for a graduate student to build high-fidelity full-stack GNC simulators for space applications. You will work on software that supports closed-loop execution using synthetic imagery and real-time visualization. We encourage interns to publish the results of their research during the program.

    What you'll do#

    • Develop full-stack GNC simulators for space missions.
    • Create software that enables closed-loop execution with synthetic imagery.
    • Build tools for real-time visualization.
    • Document and publish your research findings.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a graduate program for Aerospace, Computer Science, Robotics, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
    • Proficiency in Matlab, Python, or C/C++.
    • Experience with rendering engines and their APIs, specifically Blender, Unreal, or Unity.
    • Background in synthetic image generation and computer vision.
    • Familiarity with spacecraft dynamics, motion planning, and state estimation.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts.
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Duration: 3 to 6 months with a rolling start date.
    • Compensation: 6,000 to 8,000 dollars per month.
    • Benefits: Includes a relocation stipend, travel coverage, a monthly Charlie Card for commuting, and health insurance after a 90-day waiting period.
    • Employment status: Full-time and paid with sponsorship available for qualified candidates.
