    About the role#

    The Graduate Student Technology Specialist provides technical support within the Makerspace. You will engage with our equipment, support teaching efforts, and help students, staff, and faculty use our resources effectively. This role involves troubleshooting technical issues and providing project guidance to the Pace community.

    What you'll do#

    • Manage and maintain 3D printers, laser cutters, and sewing machines to ensure they are ready for use.
    • Research new fabrication opportunities for Pace courses and collaborative learning initiatives.
    • Create learning resources for students and faculty regarding technical equipment and software.
    • Lead one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions for both scheduled and walk-in visitors.
    • Document detailed appointment reflections after each tutoring session.
    • Perform administrative tasks to support daily operations and participate in ongoing training and assessments.

    What you'll need#

    • A GPA of 3.4 or higher from your completed undergraduate degree.
    • Advanced technical skills related to the equipment and subject matter.
    • Ability to communicate with people of all ages and backgrounds.
    • Ability to adjust your teaching approach to fit different learning styles.
    • Discretion when handling confidential information.
    • Reliability and patience when working with visitors.

    Location & details#

    • This position is located in New York, New York.
    • Work is on-site.
    • This is a paid, part-time position.
    • You will work no more than 20 hours per week during the school session and up to 35 hours per week during breaks.
