About the role#
As a Substation Engineer Intern in our Grid business unit, you will join a project team to support the design, modification, and upgrade of transmission, substation, distribution, renewable, and battery energy storage systems. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers to apply your academic background to real-world engineering projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
- Track and evaluate project activities, progress, and data.
- Prepare specifications for the procurement of major electrical power equipment and installation services.
- Solve engineering problems by using automation and AI tools to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver designs.
- Use programming or scripting, such as Python or MATLAB, to automate calculations and data transformation.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science program, preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of design techniques and tools used to produce technical plans, blueprints, and models.
- Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of a computer.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
- Experience with coding, 3D modeling, or agentic AI is a plus.
