About the role#
As a Substation Engineer Intern in the Grid business unit, you will support senior engineers on project teams. Your work will focus on the design, modification, and upgrade of transmission, substation, distribution, renewable, and battery energy storage systems. This internship provides an opportunity to apply your academic background to real-world engineering tasks.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
- Track and evaluate project activities, progress, and data for project reporting.
- Participate in power designs and prepare specifications for the procurement of major electrical power equipment and installation services.
- Solve engineering problems using automation and AI tools to improve workflows and create cost-effective designs.
- Build or use automation to create calculations, summarize technical documents, or draft design documentation.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science program.
- Strong preference for degrees in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of design techniques and principles used in technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Coursework or experience in coding, 3D modeling, or agentic AI is a plus.
