About the role#
This internship is part of the Grid business unit for the summer of 2027. You will work on a project team to design new transmission and distribution infrastructure or upgrade existing systems. You will work under the direction of senior engineers to apply your academic background to real-world projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineering team members with project execution.
- Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
- Track and evaluate project activities, progress, and related data for reporting.
- Support power designs and prepare documents for the procurement of major equipment, structures, and installation services.
- Use modern tools, including automation and scripting, to solve engineering problems, improve workflows, and verify results.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor or Master of Science program for Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- Enrollment in an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program is preferred.
- Strong academic background, with a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize issues, and meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in your community or on campus.
- Prior internship or co-op experience in this business area is a plus.
- Skills in programming or scripting, such as Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel, are valued.
