About the role#
This summer 2027 internship places you within our Grid business unit. You will join a project team and work under the guidance of senior engineers on transmission and distribution projects. This is a full-time position that offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring three days per week in our Tampa office.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineering team members with project execution, including the design of new infrastructure and system upgrades.
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical specifications, and project designs.
- Manage project reporting tasks, such as tracking activities, evaluating progress, and organizing data.
- Contribute to power designs and the procurement process for major equipment, structures, and installation services.
- Use modern tools, including automation and AI, to solve engineering problems, improve workflows, and verify results.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science program for Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- A strong academic background with a minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
- Enrollment in an ABET-accredited program.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to identify issues, create solutions, and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated leadership experience on campus or in the community.
- Prior internship or co-op experience in this business area is valued.
- Proficiency in programming or scripting, such as Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel, is a plus.

- Location: Tampa, Florida.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Work Modality: Hybrid (three days in-office per week).
- Compensation: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour.
