About the role#
Stanley Consultants is seeking a student intern to join the Traffic Engineering Department in Chicago. You will assist staff with various state and municipal projects. This role involves developing an understanding of traffic engineering principles, including traffic studies and design for projects like traffic signals, roadway lighting, signing, and pavement marking.
What you'll do#
- Review engineering studies, drawings, and specifications.
- Perform and check engineering calculations.
- Calculate quantities and perform take-offs.
- Use AutoCAD or MicroStation for basic operations.
- Prepare traffic engineering studies using Microsoft Office.
- Conduct field visits.
- Gain familiarity with traffic engineering software.
- Back check drawings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited civil engineering program pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree.
- Minimum status as a college junior.
- Interest in pursuing a career in traffic engineering.
- Traffic engineering experience or relevant coursework is preferred.
- Local candidates in the Greater Chicago area are strongly preferred.
