About the role#
The Christman Company is hiring Estimating Engineer Interns for the Summer 2027 program. This role is based on-site in Lansing, Grand Rapids, or Detroit. Interns gain hands-on experience with building types and delivery methods while working alongside our estimating teams.
What you'll do#
- Read and interpret project drawings and specifications.
- Survey and quantify materials from drawings.
- Organize quantity takeoffs for auditing.
- Learn 2D On-Screen Takeoff and 3D QTO technologies.
- Contact and follow up with trade contractors and suppliers for pricing.
- Develop an understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Participate in project site visits to observe construction processes.
- Assist the project planning team in developing 4D models and Facility Asset Management Models.
- Make recommendations for database pricing and software upgrades.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior student.
- Pursuing a bachelor degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Authorization to work for any employer in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Completion of pre-employment drug and background screening.
