About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in the green industry. You will work in the field alongside experienced arborists, climbers, and plant health care technicians. The program focuses on developing your skills in tree care, landscape maintenance, and business operations. Interns gain exposure to the daily activities that support a successful residential tree care office.
What you'll do#
- Perform tree pruning, removal, cabling, bracing, and general maintenance.
- Assist with tree and landscape installations.
- Operate field equipment safely, including chainsaws and chippers.
- Manage plant health through deep root fertilization, soil care, and pest or disease management.
- Learn fundamentals of client service, sales, management, and leadership.
- Complete career development booklets for climber, trimmer, and plant health care roles.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry, or a related field.
- A valid driver's license (a commercial driver's license is a plus).
- A positive attitude and a genuine interest in proper plant care.
- Reliability and the ability to report to work on time.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- A love for working outdoors.
Location & details#
- Location: Chantilly, Virginia.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40-50 hours per week, Monday through Friday with some Saturdays.
- This is a paid, on-site internship.
