About the role#
The Applied Process Technology (APT) Engineer Co-Op/Intern supports innovation projects across our global mining and concentrate operations. You will gain hands-on experience in new product development, pilot plant design, and chemical processing. This role provides an opportunity to work alongside professionals on projects that impact our production processes.
What you'll do#
- Lead engineering projects and improvement activities, including the development of new processes.
- Conduct feasibility studies on technologies aimed at improving mining and concentrate processing.
- Participate in and direct research activities in both laboratory and full-scale industrial settings.
- Engage with a wide range of personnel, including management, plant operators, engineers, tradespersons, and contractors.
- Attend department and project-specific meetings to share findings and build collaborative networks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program for Chemical, Mechanical, Mining, or Industrial Engineering, with Junior status or above by May 2027.
- A minimum GPA of 2.75.
- Ability to work in an industrial chemical and mining environment, including occasional outdoor work in varying temperatures.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license for travel between sites.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Preferred: 1-2 years of experience through volunteering, school organizations, or previous internships.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, climb stairs, and wear a respirator.
Location & details#
- Location: FishHawk site in Lithia, Florida, with travel to other Florida sites.
- Term: May 10, 2027, to August 20, 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time, 36-40 hours per week.
- Modality: On-site.
- Housing and relocation support is available for qualified candidates.
- Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a background check, drug and alcohol screening, and a physical functional capacity examination.
