About the role#
As a GIS Solution Engineering Intern at Ditch Witch, you will join our engineering and product management teams in Perry, Oklahoma. You will focus on creating GIS-based solutions that improve how underground utilities are located, mapped, and managed. This internship provides hands-on experience with the Esri ArcGIS platform while supporting customers across the water, gas, electric, telecommunications, and construction sectors.
What you'll do#
- Develop GIS workflows using the Esri ArcGIS platform to support infrastructure management.
- Configure solutions using ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise.
- Build and enhance applications with tools like Survey123, Field Maps, Experience Builder, Dashboards, and Web AppBuilder.
- Write Arcade expressions to customize application functionality.
- Assist in the design and validation of GIS solutions that integrate utility locating equipment with the Esri ecosystem.
- Collaborate with engineering, marketing, and product management teams to translate business problems into technical GIS solutions.
- Participate in customer demonstrations, internal testing, and proof-of-concept projects.
- Create technical documentation, training materials, and workflow diagrams.
- Research new Esri technologies to recommend improvements for utility locating workflows.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Civil, or Geomatics Engineering, GIS, Geographic Information Science, or a related field.
- Completion of at least your sophomore year is preferred.
- Experience with Esri technologies through coursework, research, or personal projects.
- Knowledge of GIS data models, feature services, web maps, mobile workflows, utility network concepts, GPS/GNSS, spatial analysis, and geodatabases.
- Programming experience in Python, JavaScript, SQL, C#, or HTML/CSS.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Interest in underground utility infrastructure and digital transformation.
