About the role#
The AI Living Lab Student Assistant supports the daily operations of the laboratory. This role is for college students interested in science, technology, agriculture, environmental science, AI, or education. You will work across various areas including hydroponics, aquaponics, reptile habitats, and general lab spaces. This position works exclusively with adults.
What you'll do#
- Prepare the laboratory, workstations, and demonstration areas for visitors and appointments.
- Maintain hydroponic and aquaponic systems, including plant care and basic water-quality testing.
- Provide care for reptiles and their habitats according to established procedures.
- Document lab activities through photos, videos, and written records.
- Support content creation for the lab's social media and YouTube channel.
- Clean and organize work areas, equipment, and educational exhibits.
- Assist with setting up and breaking down community events and workshops.
- Monitor supplies and report equipment or safety concerns to the Lab Director.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college student.
- A valid Work-Study Award.
- Interest in science, technology, agriculture, environmental science, AI, or education.
- Ability to support laboratory operations and follow safety procedures.
- Students from Computer Science, Biology, Environmental Engineering, Agriculture, or Media Studies are encouraged to apply.
