    About the role#

    The Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of New Mexico is hiring a Lab Assistant to support various clinical studies. You will work across multiple research projects rather than focusing on a single study. This role provides operational and administrative support to the Psychedelic Therapies research team. This is a student employee position requiring 10 to 20 hours per week.

    What you'll do#

    You will assist senior staff with daily research operations. Your tasks include:

    • Scheduling clinical trial subjects, including prescreen calls and follow ups.
    • Managing laboratory supply inventory, including ordering and picking up dry ice.
    • Entering and managing data using electronic capture systems like REDCap and Zelta.
    • Handling document administration, such as printing, filing, scanning, and copying source documentation.
    • Distributing participant incentive gift cards.
    • Observing subcutaneous injection administration and performing other unblinded role activities.
    • Managing biohazard waste disposal and routine campus errands.
    • Scheduling lab sample pickups with carriers.

    What you'll need#

    • A commitment to research and administrative support.
    • Experience working in laboratory environments.
    • Interest or education in mental health or clinical research.
    • Prior experience in community-based research or outreach programs is preferred.
    • Majors in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Psychology, Public Health, or Nursing are relevant to this role.
