About the role#
This Professional Intern position offers hands-on experience in Student Affairs and Higher Education Administration. You will report to the Program Manager for Orientation and Access. The role supports the New Student Orientation and the College Enrichment Program. These units focus on educational equity for first-generation, Pell-eligible, and rural students. You will help students navigate their transition to the university through onboarding support and year-round engagement programs.
What you'll do#
- Provide holistic academic transition support to undergraduate students, including help with course registration and university processes.
- Manage and communicate the New Student Orientation Task List to help students complete onboarding steps via the VisualZen platform.
- Serve as a core member of the New Student Orientation team by assisting with program planning, logistics, and on-site implementation.
- Support extended orientation initiatives to strengthen student belonging and success during the first year.
- Recruit, train, and mentor NSO Leaders and Lobo Companions.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus partners to improve support systems.
- Maintain accurate records and track student participation for reporting purposes.
What you'll need#
- You are a recent graduate.
- You have an interest in student success and program development.
- You are eager to learn the systems and tools used for student onboarding.
- Preferred majors include Communications, Sociology, Psychology, Public Health, or Business Administration.

- Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico.
- This is an on-site, full-time, paid position.
