About the role#
As a Carolinas Safety Intern, you will support safety and loss control efforts on construction projects. You will work under the direction of a supervisor to implement the Building L.I.F.E. program and ensure compliance with project safety standards. This is a paid, full-time position with a rolling term.
What you'll do#
- Assist with identifying and reporting safety violations or unsafe practices.
- Coordinate safety duties for committees, preplanning meetings, and tool box talks.
- Facilitate training sessions, orientations, and worker safety meetings.
- Review subcontractor safety programs for completeness and policy compliance.
- Administer the drug screening program and maintain accurate safety records, including incident investigations and training logs.
- Conduct jobsite inspections and document findings.
- Perform research and assist with preconstruction meetings.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited degree program for Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least one year of completed education or equivalent experience.
- Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer data entry.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- A desire to learn about the construction industry and construction management.
- Flexibility to work standard business hours and overtime as required.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
Location & details#
- Locations: Raleigh, NC; Charlotte, NC; and Greenville, SC.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Physical requirements include the ability to climb stairs and ladders, navigate active construction areas, and lift up to 25 pounds. You will be exposed to various weather conditions, noise, and construction site environments.
