About the role#
As a Safety Intern, you will support loss control and safety activities at our construction projects or office locations. You will work under the direction of a supervisor to implement the Building L.I.F.E. (Living Injury Free Everyday) program and ensure compliance with safety standards.
What you'll do#
- Assist in identifying and reporting safety violations or unsafe practices.
- Coordinate duties for safety committees, preplanning meetings, and tool box meetings.
- Review subcontractor safety programs for completeness.
- Promote safe work practices in accordance with regulations.
- Administer the drug screening program.
- Conduct jobsite inspections and develop inspection summaries.
- Maintain safety records including Job Hazard Analyses, training records, OSHA 300 logs, and chemical inventory sheets.
- Conduct worker orientation programs for new employees.
- Document meetings and conduct research as directed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited degree program in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of completed education or equivalent experience.
- Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles.
- Desire to learn about the construction industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Access to reliable transportation.
- Flexibility to work standard business hours and overtime as assigned.
