About the role#
United Veterinary Care hosts veterinary students for externships at our HousePaws Mobile Veterinary Services location in Atco, New Jersey. This program allows you to apply classroom knowledge in a clinical setting. You will work within a practice that combines mobile veterinary care with traditional hospital-based services for dogs, cats, pocket pets, birds, potbellied pigs, and small ruminants.
What you'll do#
During your externship, you will actively participate in cases to develop your veterinary skills. You will work under the supervision of an experienced veterinarian and skilled support staff. Your responsibilities include:
- Participating in surgical cases and dental procedures
- Assisting with emergency care and sick patient workups
- Engaging in routine medical appointments
- Discussing cases with your supervisor to confirm exam findings and treatment plans
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
- Proof of professional liability insurance
- Priority is given to students in their clinical years
