About the role#
WSP is seeking a full-time Transit and Rail Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This position is based in Washington, DC, and requires in-person work. The internship program spans 12 weeks, starting May 17, 2027. Please note that no relocation or housing assistance is provided for this role.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering tasks and technical decision-making processes.
- Learn principles of transit program management, including project, construction, asset, and workflow management.
- Assist in preparing comparative analyses of alternatives for management decisions.
- Help prepare project scopes and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Adhere to company ethics, resource management, and safety policies.
- Perform additional duties as business needs require.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Undergraduate, Master, or PhD program in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Management Science, or a related field.
- Preference for 3rd-year undergraduate students expecting to graduate in May 2028.
- Demonstrated interest in transportation or civil infrastructure.
- Experience in civil or transportation infrastructure, including prior internships, research, or leadership roles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, or Power BI.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and take direction from project managers and mentors.
- Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
