About the role#
This internship is part of the Performance Optimization Organization at Xcel Energy. You will report to the Reliability Organization in Colorado, specifically supporting the Cherokee and Fort St. Vrain plants. This is a paid, full-time position starting May 24, 2027, for the summer term. There is a possibility to extend this role based on business needs and your performance.
What you'll do#
- Provide technical responses for the operations and maintenance of assigned plants.
- Work directly with local Plant Engineers and Reliability Engineers.
- Review designs and APM recommendations.
- Perform work order cleanup.
- Support capital projects.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a Junior or higher at an accredited college or university as of Fall 2027.
- Pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering.
- Ability to work full-time (up to 40 hours a week) during the summer and part-time (up to 20 hours a week) during the school year.
- Ability to commute in-person to the work location.
- Previous internship experience is preferred.
