About the role#
The Nursing Learning Resource Center (NLRC) at the Louise Herrington School of Nursing is hiring a student worker to staff the Tech Point Desk. You will serve as a primary point of contact for students and faculty, assisting with resources, equipment, and administrative tasks. This position offers a flexible schedule during weekday business hours and allows for study time during shifts.
What you'll do#
- Staff the service desk to check out and return books, clinical equipment, models, and other resources.
- Assist students and faculty with the library catalog, course materials, and digital tools like Canvas and PawPrints.
- Maintain printer stations by clearing jams, refilling paper, and replacing toner.
- Orient new nursing students to NLRC resources and share your perspective on navigating the school culture.
- Answer the phone, handle routine inquiries, and relay messages.
- Keep the workspace organized by reshelving items and maintaining equipment like scanners and office supplies.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by your supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Ability to communicate effectively and respond to requests promptly.
- Familiarity with Baylor print and electronic resources.
- Experience using library or educational tools.
- A willingness to assist faculty and students with various resource needs.
- Enrollment in Nursing, Public Health, or Health Administration programs is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: LHSON Academic Building, 1st floor Tech Desk, Dallas, Texas.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 1 to 4 hour shifts, Monday through Friday, between 8am and 5pm.
- Compensation: Paid position at $8.50 per hour.
