    About the role#

    The Urban REAP Aquaponics Assistant supports the program director in managing aquaponics systems. This role involves maintaining system health, conducting research on water quality, and managing pest control. You will work off-campus with community service partners. Reliable transportation is necessary for this position.

    What you'll do#

    • Manage fish, plants, and water quality to ensure production goals.
    • Perform daily and regular water quality testing.
    • Monitor plant health and carry out pest management strategies.
    • Develop planting plans to grow produce for local vendors.
    • Harvest produce and assist with local distribution.
    • Create educational materials about aquaponics for community members.
    • Maintain accurate records and documentation for system operations.

    What you'll need#

    • Current eligibility for Federal Work-Study.
    • Academic background in Biology, Environmental Studies, Ecology, Chemistry, Horticulture, or Sustainable Agriculture.
    • Ability to work 10 to 20 hours per week with a flexible schedule.
    • Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

    • This position is located in Waco, Texas.
    • Work is performed on-site at the Mission Waco Mission World facility.
    • This is a paid position for the Fall 2026 term.
