    About the role#

    Peer Tutors provide academic support to students at Columbia College. You will work in the Stafford Learning Commons to help students in STEM, writing, and business disciplines. This role focuses on strengthening course content knowledge, building study strategies, and encouraging independent learning. You will maintain a professional and supportive environment while helping your peers succeed.

    What you'll do#

    • Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in approved subject areas like Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, Nursing, and writing.
    • Assist students in understanding course concepts while encouraging independent learning and critical thinking.
    • Help students develop effective study habits, problem-solving skills, and learning strategies.
    • Maintain accurate tutoring records and appointment documentation.
    • Attend all scheduled tutoring appointments, shifts, meetings, and required training sessions.
    • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for students of diverse backgrounds.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment at Columbia College in good academic standing.
    • Completion of the course(s) you intend to tutor with a grade of A or B.
    • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with staff.
    • Reliability and professionalism in all student interactions.

    • Location: Columbia, Missouri.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Pay: $15 per hour.
    • Term: Rolling.
    • Employment: Part-time, paid position.
