    About the role#

    As an Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Intern, you will join an engineering and digital transformation team at Corning. You will apply your knowledge of data analytics and machine learning to solve real manufacturing problems. This role is designed for students who want to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industrial application. You will work on projects that support product, process, and equipment improvements within our optical fiber and cable manufacturing operations.

    What you'll do#

    • Own one or more defined project objectives that support manufacturing and digital transformation priorities.
    • Clean, structure, and analyze datasets using statistical, visualization, and AI/ML techniques.
    • Build proof-of-concept models, scripts, dashboards, algorithms, or analytical tools.
    • Support projects involving machine vision, sensor technology, process control, automation, predictive analytics, or anomaly detection.
    • Document your assumptions, data sources, analysis methods, model performance, and recommended next steps.
    • Interface with engineering, operations, quality, and IT teams to understand project context and data constraints.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a BS or MS program in Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
    • At least one academic term remaining after the internship concludes.
    • Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, C/C++, C#, R, or a similar language.
    • A foundational understanding of data analytics and AI/ML concepts.
    • Ability to work on-site for 10 weeks during Summer 2027.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills to present technical findings to various stakeholders.

    • Location: Wilmington, North Carolina.
    • Term: Summer 2027 (10 weeks).
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • This is a paid, full-time internship position.
