About the role#
The Government of Nova Scotia is building a pool of students for summer 2026 roles in Trades, Maintenance, Labour, and Occupational Health and Safety. These roles provide hands-on experience and mentorship while you work alongside experienced public sector professionals to maintain infrastructure and support essential services.
What you'll do#
- Support the upkeep of government buildings, parks, roadways, and public spaces.
- Assist with grounds and facility maintenance, equipment operation, and basic construction or repair tasks.
- Help with traffic control and road maintenance duties.
- Gain exposure to occupational health and safety legislation by assisting with inspections, hazard identification, and safety program initiatives.
- Contribute to the safe operation of public infrastructure across the province.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a high school or post-secondary program with plans to return to studies in the next academic term.
- Enthusiasm, curiosity, and a willingness to learn new skills.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and working outdoors in varied weather conditions.
- A commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
- Relevant majors include Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Public Health, Human Resources, Psychology, Communications, and Criminal Justice.
