    About the role#

    The IDB Invest Legal Department is hiring an intern for its Compliance unit during the Winter 2027 term. This paid internship provides an opportunity to learn about development work and corporate management while gaining professional experience. You will work on-site at our headquarters in Washington, D.C.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist legal officers in advising Management and business teams on legal and compliance matters.
    • Help identify and manage nonfinancial risks related to operations, including integrity, ethics, conflicts of interest, and anti-money laundering protocols.
    • Conduct research on legal and compliance topics and draft reports for Management.
    • Develop training and capacity-building materials.
    • Coordinate with internal units such as investment teams, the Office of Ethics, and the Office of Institutional Integrity.
    • Support the development and implementation of compliance policies, guidelines, and procedures.

    What you'll need#

    • You must be an active undergraduate student in Law at an accredited university.
    • You must have completed your second year of school at the time of application.
    • Your graduation date must be after the internship period.
    • You need fluency in English, and a working knowledge of Spanish, French, or Portuguese is a plus.
    • Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel, is required.
    • You must be a first-time participant in an IDB Group internship and have no family members currently working at the IDB or IDB Invest.

    • Location: Washington, D.C., United States.
    • Term: January 16, 2027, to March 15, 2027.
    • Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week).
    • Status: Paid internship.
    • Documentation: You must submit a resume, academic transcripts, and a university letter certifying your status. All files must be in PDF format.
